Decision Network Based BMD Battle Management Algorithms

In this effort for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), IET is building solution concepts for the BMD BM/C2 by applying Decision Network approaches that extends Bayesian Network inference technology. This effort consists of three steps:

  • Formulate multiple-agent, distributed BM/C2 problems in a large-scale Decision Network,
  • Generate a coarse Decision Network by applying techniques such as the node aggregation method, and
  • Let each local BM/C2 agent generate a finer Decision Network to make optimal decisions based on locally available information.
This three-step approach is based on informational centralization, process distribution via replicating a centralized decision-making design, coarse modeling by aggregation, and local refinement.
